Pond FAQs
I want a pond, but I am not really sure what I need to get it started.
If you have seen a pond that you like, try to find out what went into the construction of that pond. There are many books you can get that will describe many different types of ponds in great detail, and will let you know exactly what you need to do to make them.
There are also many stores that specialize in things like garden ponds, or at least have a section of the store devoted to ponds. Talking to some of the people who work in these stores can help you to get an idea of exactly what you need. They will probably recommend that you get a pond kit.
I am having a problem with my pond. What should I do?
If you subscribe to any gardening or pond magazines, look through some of the back issues and see if the problem or any of the symptoms are mentioned. Do the same with any books on the subject you may have. Doing an online search will also provide some good answers.
How can I keep more problems from occurring in my pond?
Prevention is the best option, just like with any other problems. Buying a couple books and magazines on ponds and their care can give you a lot of really good information on the subject. If you know what some of the most common problems are, you can watch for early signs of them. Again, like most problems, issues in your pond will be taken care of easiest if you catch them in their early stages.
If you have fish in your pond, make sure you buy a book that addresses them specifically. That way if a problem arises with them, you can look up the best way to fix it right away.
